My first Speccies card!

As I said in the last post - this is the third image coloured with my Spectrum Noirs!
But this is the first card I've put together with the images coloured with the Speccies. If there's anyone out there who hasn't bought them yet, but isn't sure if they can justify spending all of that money, you really should. I have used other pens before, and never got on with them well, but the Speccies are so much simpler. I am just starting out with them, so have a lot more to learn but I am loving it!

I really need to practice with the greens though, I was given the basic starter kit and have found myself struggling with blending the greens, so I can't wait to get the 24 pen sets & see if that makes it easier for me.
If there's any colouring experts reading this then I would LOVE for you to tell me where I am going wrong with the greens please.

I have chosen to make the card simple, but think it needs something in the top right-hand corner, I will have to hunt through my stash to see if I can find something appropriate! (I welcome any ideas if you have a great thought of what I could put there!)
I used the Collall all purpose glue (the best glue in the world!) on the layers, which has made the card feel very expensive. The image was stamped onto Neenah, and the card itself is Centura Pearl Snow White.
Both the stamped sentiment & image are from the same Humphrey stamp - "Hello Snow Friend".

Thanks for reading :) please do leave me some feedback to help me improve my colouring!

Backing paper is from The Snowman cd & the stamp is "Hello Snow Friend" from Humphrey's Corner Christmas range

Spectrum Noir - my first play!

I have been completely rubbish at keeping my resolution of updating my blog more often, so being as it's nearly the end of the year, I have decided to post regularly (and keep to it this time!).
So, to start off with, I finally got my hands on some Speccies for my birthday in September, so I set about playing straight away! And will upload my first attempts on here.
My very first attempt - Snowman stamp

My second attempt with them - Humphrey stamp "1st Christmas"

My fourth attempt - Humphrey "Meeting Santa"

Please give your honest opinions with how I've done!
My third attempt isn't on this post, I'm going to post another one with a made up card on it, and the image on that is my third attempt.

New Year...

First off, Happy New Year!

I have made a couple of resolutions this year, one of which is to loose weight (around a stone & I will be content!). That one is going well, I've managed to loose 3lbs already, even with all of the chocolate in the house!
The other one isn't going as well... to blog more often! So far, I haven't. This will be my first post!

I posted a while back (last June!) and mentioned Humphrey's Corner, and how much I wanted the whole set. For my birthday, in September, I was given some money, so I ordered the entire Christmas Humphrey set (and the whole Snowman set, apart from the first cd rom) ready for my Christmas crafting. And I was not dissapointed! It is all absolutely adorable, everyone was even more pleased with their Christmas cards this year :)

Another item which made my Christmas cards even better this year was the Ultimate Pro - I bought the birthday kit back in October, and if anyone out there is wondering whether to buy it, you really should! It makes making all of your cards much easier: this year I had the ability to make so many different cards, without having to worry about having to find an envelope to fit them - I just made all of them with it too! I even used the Pro to embellish some cards.

The final item I would recommend is the Cuttlebug, an item which I bought along with the Pro, to improve my Christmas cards more. It is so easy to use and makes any card look more professional, and if you're selling your cards it will add extra value to them too!

Due to my overspending towards the end of last year, I'm not supposed to be spending much money on crafting for a while. But I already have a list of items I hope to get at some point this year:

  • some of the spellbinders dies, especially nestabilities & fanciful flight
  • some new Cricut cartridges, especially the Disney range
  • the first Humphrey cd rom + the first 2 stamp sets
  • the entire Strawberry Kisses range - I've already fallen in love with the cute pup & kitten and it hasn't even launched yet! Sally Hunter is such a talented lady
  • the first Snowman cd rom
  • the Enveloplus
  • some more Popcorn Pals cds.

That's already getting to be quite a large list, hopefully there won't be too many amazing launches this year, or that list will continue to grow! I also need to complete my Papercraft Library set too.
All in all, this year I could probably do with winning a lot of money so I can just get everything at once & get busy experimenting!

I will have to upload some pics of my cards sometime soon, when I can find the time! And I will definitely try to stick to my resolutions...

Happy crafting! :) xx

Crafty bits

I plan to post craft stuff on here. It could be anything - things I like, want etc, items I've made and so on.
At the minute I'm a little bit obssessed with animals! I really want to order the Humphrey's Corner set (which I will, when I have some spare change!). My main obsession is tigers though, all because I bought a tiger stamp the other day. It's brill, been stamping and trying different things. Will make my stamped images up into cards and upload some pics here soon!
